Freddy,
in response to you and the other responses when it comes to Vanilla Sky:

First of all, congrats. You have seen another of AK's Top 10 movies of all time. And for that you should be commended. BUT, you asked if there is more to the movie and there is.

The film states one of its themes plainly, "Every passing minute is another chance to turn it all around." Life gives you two choices,
1. You remain the same, or
2. You adapt and evolve.
So, you either sit there and wallow in self pity, or you do something about it. David Aames first chooses Option #1 and that didn't really work out. He then chooses secret option #3, Cryogenically freeze your body in order to remain in a constant dream state where life is always grand. Of course that didn't really work either. So the answer is #2: adapt and evolve. Because things can go right just as fast as they go wrong. After seeing this movie, I took that lesson to heart. Its a good rule to live by, you face your fears (i.e. jumping off a building) and venture into the unknown. And in the end we are all the better for it, no?

There are also a few other interpretations of the plot that make for some great repeat viewing: (these are all from the Cameron Crowe commentary which is by the way the best movie commentary ever)

1. He actually did cryogenically freeze his body and everything the guy in the elevator says is true.
2. The entire film was a dream up to the point where he opens his eyes at the end. Clues for this include:
-Sofia's (Penelope Cruz) voice is recorded on Aames' machine at the beginning of the movie, before he meets her.
-His car sticker reads 2/30/01, a date which does not exist.
-Then there's the whole Jules et Jim poster and all that implies but I've already spoiled one movie so why spoil another?
3. The movie is the book that Jason Lee's character was writing.

There's also a lot of good stuff about friendships in there, sexual or otherwise. But lets move on shall we?

Rickster,
Admit it, the real reason you didn't like Undercover Brother as much as me is because you are a racist. A low-down dirty racist. And thats just sad.

The purpose of this blog is to allow me to vent. Hopefully this will be funny to the readers because the various subjects described will be happening to me and not them.
